Taoism and Lao Tzu
How might we see ourselves differently in a room full of friends and acquaintances who share similar views, if we greeted them with the natural flow of our thoughts, where harmony is not just an aesthetic pleasure but an expression of a life well-lived devoted to nature and the spirit? As we contribute to an aura of wonder.
Not in a church or strictly religious or political setting, but in a space where a natural aura of shared like-mindedness is present and comfort but a foregone conclusion. To a place where there is no contention present.
What would be our reaction where one’s general impression of supreme peace and harmony is the supreme order of the day. Where contention goes to die and not making any appearances just the same. Where our own presence seems to be enough to dissolve all problems making them non-existent like darkness in the presence of light once it appears. As we gain an immediate sense of reassurance that we are welcome here.
We each carry that light within us. The Tao teaches us to reflect on chapter/verse thirty-five below that the above could be speaking of or to us.
It’s like having the need to hold on to a great image and the whole world will come to you and that you will suffer no harm, but rather great safety and peace. It is to become the awakening to our own inner reality which, once seen, determines our further course of development and our actions in life without the enforcement of outer rules.
I value having a broad aptitude and a love for learning, linking the old with the new. My heart and mind drift between the Tao and virtue, and with open-minded thinking, I seek out what is essential, explore mysteries, and question what still lies hidden. Why I think updating commentaries and explanations become so important.
I often enjoy being the storyteller or writer, as it makes things easier to understand and practice. Writing serves not just for today but also benefits future generations. To me, it’s an expression of a heart and mind filled with compassion and kindness for others… and it’s why we are here.
Verse 35 – Remaining Humble Yet Inexhaustible
Holding onto the true image of myself with humility, comity and grace I remain humbled by what the Tao places before me.
As I recommit my entire essence to only promoting that which comes forth as the greater image or vision that I am here to complete all the while knowing that my highest aspiration can succeed only with the success of all around me.
As the world comes forth to greet me each day, I remain protected, as I have no form thereby beyond whatever harm may come my way. I remain safe, serene and as one with the Tao. Eventually everything coming before me as an equal, I walk guided by selflessness as all things come to me. As I remain one with all things. While forgetting myself in others, others forget themselves in me. Therefore, everyone finds his or her place and no one is not at one with me.
Keep only to the plain and simple drawing people closer as you entertain with images of the Tao.
Remaining at the point of inquiry, with no one quite sure how to love or hate, with no shape, taste or sound with which to please others. Remaining enmeshed in the Tao your role can never be exhausted.
35. 保持谦恭，取之不尽
带着谦恭，尊重和慈爱，我捧着自己的真实影像。我以谦恭的态度对待对道给我的一切。我再次
承诺为完成崇高的理想贡献我的一切。我明白，只有在我周围的人成功以后，我的最高理想才能够实现。
世人每天前来向我致意。因为我无形无状，无论遇到任何危险，我都丝毫无损。与道一起，我感到安全和宁静。来到我面前的每事每物都将是平等的。当万物走向我时，我走的每一步都以无私为指导。我是一个包容万物的人，众人忘了我，我忘了众人。每个人在宇宙都找到自己的地位，没人不与我同在。
当你修道时，保持淡泊简朴的生活，以团结人民。甘为众人解答疑问，因为没有人确切知道如何去爱或恨，用无形，无味或无声去博取众人之心。沉浸在道之中，你的作用将永不枯竭。
