(From the beginning there were dragons traveling on the wind looking for their brothers and sisters. Hens the name Cloud Dancing).
There is more that we are here to do than to adapt to circumstances that surround us. References and commentary to the I Ching are to illustrate written principles of conduct from both the text and what are called the hexagrams that are not included here. They are to illustrate the workings of the universe and our ultimate role. The commentaries over the centuries reflect the influence of Confucius, as I am reminded that I lived and taught in Qufu the home of Confucius for many years.
What is our ultimate role? Following up on the last entry as we see where what becomes prevalent in our lives. Over time taking on a metaphysical role to where many can see the divinational aspects of our personal journey. It’s not as religion as we may define, but our spiritual path and how we choose to proceed. The I Ching was always how we define the next step, not as fortunetelling as popular culture was to define, but how our inner most thoughts and feelings were to respond to the universal vibrations we are to respond to with our actions.
Over time many have seen this as a need to withdraw so that what becomes prevalent is this resonance and to act when the time is right. To remain clear of obstruction and to practice constancy in small matters.

The Centerpiece
Stopping for a celebration, many people from distant communities have arrived. A joyous occasion with much to be thankful for. Everyone busy tending to tasks at hand.
Various dishes under preparation. Ceremonial duties rehearsed, practiced and rehearsed again and again. It is important to all the dragons that all goes well. Sacrifices can be made only in solemn regard for the occasion at hand.
The centerpiece has been cooking since last night buried in a cavity lined with rocks in the ground. A series of small pigs lined in a row have been roasting and are about to be uncovered. The critical time has arrived. Celebrations of families and neighbors known and cared for through the ages. An overwhelming sense of well-being with everyone joining in to overcome any and all obstacles.
This appears not to be a common gathering of common folks, but a gathering of those educated to appreciate the value of their position and knowledge gained only through rank and position. The suckling pigs roasting symbolize confident undertakings have been successful and played out to advantage.
Initially on the sidelines I am eyed warily with reservation. When asked who I am to disturb such important festivities, I simply respond that I am on a journey to find the true way of virtue. Knowing glances abound. Elated, Cloud Dancing has been asked to join the feast.
