In the months following leaving my job in Fall River in August 1994 until leaving for Florida for the job in Boynton Beach, it could easily be said that I was in transition and transformation. I had completed my version of the I Ching and had moved on to was would become te next entry here on my website “My travels with Lieh Tzu”. However, I have at a minimum of two more months following the I Ching before going there.
Number 10 of the I Ching
Finding One’s Step
The day of great importance has arrived. A great journey is commencing. The dragons are curious.
Is there sincerity present? Is peace and harmony ever apparent? The day has arrived. Draw no attention to yourself keeping to the back woods, the mountains, streams and lakes.
Your feet must not stumble. It is important that you have worn the right shoes. With beating heart and trembling hands, the way ahead requires endurance.
Concentrating on one step at a time. Focusing only on the path ahead. When trouble arrives remaining alert to peril, looking ahead and watching one’s step as one with nature secure in following the way of knowledge.
The dragons’ interest has peaked. Others have come this way and failed. these footprints appear to be true. A great journey is commencing.
An original composition and interpretation of the Chinese Classic the I Ching (10 TREADING / Heaven over Lake). 2/9/94
When I wrote the next entry in February 1995, I was still looking for another job and would become the interim Town Planner in West Warwick Rhode Island. They had a residency requirement and since I still owned my house in Fall River prospects for staying seems remote. West Warwick was less than thirty minutes away from Fall River, but I could not go beyond interim unless I moved. They asked me to stay, but I couldn’t. The job I got in Florida paid $10,000 less than what I would have received a year in Rhode Island. So, I kept looking and applied in March for a job in Boynton Beach, Florida and was hired and began in May 1995. The day I began work in Florida it rained all day, and it seemed like it rained every day afterwards at 4PM like clockwork.
