Doing our part to harmonize with nature

What could be our ultimate role but to find our highest attributes harmonizing with nature. To purposefully endeavor to do the right thing by and for all. As we keep our virtue intact. Meditation simply becoming how we move about our day, using whatever we do as an instrument of harmony with our surroundings and nature. This is what we find in and through our gardens. The above picture is of my yard the morning after I’ve mowed.

What brings us out of chaos to discipline, respect, and structure that becomes emblematic of our journey. What takes us there can simply be our gardens. Time spent within what we have found and done as our highest endeavor. To what greatly inspired me over thirty years ago with Ram Dass saying, “We are not the person we are from nine to five, we are the person we are yet to become as we live from five to nine”. We are not only what we do to make money to support ourselves, we are the person where our innate virtue can grow and come through. Our “work” experience should assist in illustrating how we can help others as we help to do this for ourselves.

Why creating a home environment where our love of nature is only illustrative of our love for ourselves. Creating beautiful landscapes with trees, plants, and flowers are just us harmonizing with nature with us simply doing our part. I really like the time right after I’ve mowed my front yard. It’s like creating the “wow” affect. After digging up the wild onions and most of the dandelions (although getting rid of them impossible because they are also in my neighbor’s yard across the street), before I mow and then afterwards it’s putting a smile on people’s face as they drive or walk by.

Creating a safe haven for nature in our neighborhood as the bees and butterflies find a home. The birds knowing they have a respite to come to, the rabbits can hide amongst the scrubs and flowers having plenty to eat. It’s doing all you can for as long as you can knowing that it will simply be enough. Doing our part serving the needs of all things found in nature. In the end the smile is not only from those passing by, but your own inner self smiling too.

Now it’s getting things ready for the Master Gardener plant sale this weekend. I hope you’ll come by buy some plants and visit me about your perennials.
