Writing this now, thirty years later may make hindsight 20/20, but the question remains… am I closer to my identity or still stuck in earthly encounters and endeavors that in the long run are insignificant. For myself, I acknowledge that what I write following both is who I am to become. Some may live their life and never see, others see the light and come running. May I be the one always looking beyond the horizon to mountains yet to climb.
Yesterday, I wrote of this Great Unity of spirit that manifests through us in many ways going forward. The I Ching teaching with an emphasis on constant change being the nature of reality. The Great Unity was the philosopher’s term for the ultimate understanding of the Tao as the foundation, origin, and pre-origin of all existence.
Number 5 of the I Ching
The Dragons are Waiting
Yin and yang tell us to wait without anxiety. Earth and sky, water and heaven wait for the seasons and all things that will come.
Knowing that waiting brings change from spring and time to plant, to summer a time to tend and autumn a time to harvest. To winter and a time to rest before beginning the cycle once more. Again, again and again. Let nature and you garden be your teacher. Knowing what is now yields to what will be.
The Tao teaches us to be gracious, asking for help when needed and giving help when it is asked. Know to treat good and bad the same with indifference. Knowing what is now yields to what will be. Resolve to know the Tao and know courage and security.
Let the seasons teach you cycles. Knowing cycles brings patience. The earth and sky and all in between serve to show patience to those who watch, listen and learn. The dragons are waiting. Be patient, listen and learn.
An original composition and interpretation of the Chinese Classic the I Ching (5 WAITING / Water over Heaven). 2/6/94
I was to continue following the book The I Ching by Kerson and Rosemary Huang everyday line by line and verse by verse, but what I wrote did not resemble what I was reading and studying. It only served as a prompt triggering some inner unforeseen knowledge and wisdom that was present but unaccounted for. The I Ching and the Tao becoming familiar as my own thoughts and words that spoke directly to me.
