Getting more flower seeds started for fall

I’m always looking to plant more seeds for both the fall garden and the spring perennials. So, I have started seeds first for the following perennials:

  1. Gaillardia Aristate Blanket flower
  2. Bright orange Butterfly flower
  3. Summer Carnival Mixed Colors Hollyhock
  4. Helen Mount Johnny Jump Up

I am very happy with the Johnny Jump Ups I planted last year that reseeded creating a large circular area around a tree in the front yard this year. I want to encourage more of this for next year. So, I am trying to start more of the Johnny Jump ups now. I hope is to get as many perennials started over this summer and move to the raised beds in the back yard to over winter until next Spring.

I also started some annual and herb seeds today for the fall garden. They are as follows:

The annuals were:

  1. Semi dwarf zinnias
  2. Batchlor buttons, and
  3. Mixed colors four o’clock

The herbs were:

  1. Sweet basil
  2. Curled blue kale, and
  3. Cilantro

We can never have enough basil and cilantro. I have tried in the past to have herb perennials in the yard and have both sage and oregano.  The chives I started earlier I hope to move some to the yard as well.
