I’m looking for advice with the problem of my chickens having taken over my raised beds.
They liked to eat or at least try anything I planted over the summer except they leave the pepper plants alone.
I could rebuild the area over their part of the backyard to put a wire roof and enclose them inside. But they don’t seem to think that’s fair since they’ve had the run of the whole place up to this point. I read they wouldn’t like squash plants, but they ate them. Anything I do to a particular raised bed they rush over to inspect after I’m gone. (There are six chickens, but you just see two in the picture above).
I could plant things in the raised beds and cover with wire, but I’d never hear the end of their squabbling announcing how unfair that is… We’ve already tried. I need to bring some perennials from the front yard that have grown too close to the small trees and plant in my raised beds in the back yard but know I will have to build a wire around the raised beds. The chickens don’t really lay that many eggs I think it’s because it is too hot. At least that’s what they tell me.
