Plant sales follow-up and new plants

I thought I would do a follow-up from this past weekend and the successful Hillbilly Garden Club and Master Gardener plant sales. Both were very successful, and the rain held off until later Saturday night. I’m writing this on Tuesday morning and it’s raining again with the horns blaring about possible tornados.

I took three carloads of my plants for both plant sales. However, my tomato plants were not in the best of conditions. Another lesson learned. Now if I could just remember. They looked great went I brought them up from under the lights a few days earlier, but I think I over watered them. You’d think I would know better. But I did bring home some nice plants.

On the Friday night before the Master Gardener plant sale, we always let everyone pick out five plants to purchase and take home if we have brought plants for the sale. I picked out the following plants:

  • A one-gallon pink garden phlox requiring full sun.
  • Orpine sedum
  • A one-gallon container of bleck-eyed susans
  • A one-gallon of Cliff golden rod, and
  • A small yarrow plant

On Saturday I bought about thirty Lamium yellow archangel for groundcover and to try as hanging pots at the Master Gardener plant sale. They should be awesome.

On Saturday after the sale I brought about thirty Alkazar two-tone iris and four gallon containers of daylilies from the Hillbilly Garden Club. I also bought a used wheelbarrow.

I think I came out about even buying almost as many plants as I took to both plant sales.
