It looks like more rain and wind is on the way. I’ve been re-tying down my small trees again with all the wind we’ve been getting. I needed to review. redo them anyway. Pictured above in the foreground is a jane magnolia and further back is an ornamental plum tree along Cherokee. I have two other jane magnolia trees in the front yard along South Jefferson. one I pulled weeds and a couple plants elsewhere that were too close underneath, plus another one that borders a flower bed. I need to do more around it as other plants are too close. Just as staking the tree gives the tree limbs room to breathe, the trunk of the tree needs some distance as well. I really like the jane magnolia trees and wish I had room for more.
I still have weeding to do in the bed south of the driveway on Jefferson and I am almost done in the front yard unless I get more plants of course. I was late getting annual seeds down. Some rain now would help them to germinate. what I need to focus on is my backyard and getting new plants planted. Cutting back the iris after they bloom and general review is important. Shasta daisies are starting to bloom they will be awesome.
In many ways we are the custodians of nature. We live in a co-dependent universe. It’s something we think about and do every day. Now to trimming the iris before it starts raining.
