Evertything look marvelous…

My list seems to grow every day. It’s that time of year especially after all the rain we’ve had everything is growing plus it’s not too late to put out more seeds especially flower seeds. It’s good to think about late August, September, October, and how long they will last until things freeze in the fall. I finally got my carport painted it looks great. I cut back iris blooms that have finished to encourage new blooms and tied back my top-heavy blooming peonies. Lots more weeding to do in the front yard. Everything looks great from the street. I still have a few tomatoes and cucumbers to get planted. Just when I finished getting new tiger lilies a friend dropped by planted in one of my raised beds, a neighbor brought me a box full of naked ladies to plant. Now I have to find a place for them… no problem. In the next few weeks all my perennials in the front yard will start to bloom. I have hundreds of shasta daisies that will begin to bloom plus lots of other stuff. It will be awesome.

The big thing was finishing digging up the grass in the back yard and getting the straw down in its place. You can see by the picture above it looks great. Now the work, fun, begins. When I do design for my yard I always go by the thought that one thing tells you what the next thing should be. This makes nothing too big that we can’t just do it. Now that the straw is down between the beds I can focus on getting my new plants in the ground.

I still have not figured out how to keep the chickens out of my raised beds. They aren’t eating them they are digging them up looking for worms. I wonder… I think if I just grow flowers they won’t bother so much. My chickens are like my dog and cats and Katie’s rabbit in the house. They are a part of the family. So, I just grow stuff for them too.
